Day 51
Journey 585
The longest day. But it was hot sunny and a tail wind. Camping right next to the ferry made timing our departure easy. We were on the first ferry at 9.30 with a lovely funny German couple also cycle touring, but not camping. We established we were younger than them. Our paths criss crossed much of the day. We made an early stop for coffee and food . This part of southern Netherlands is very nice. Large stretches of woodland and open countryside. Very little industry and lots of horses.
From today

We began to wilt a bit in the sun as the afternoon drew on and decided to head for a nearer campsite in the countryside. Google maps came out and we worked our way there. When we eventually found it it wasn’t really open. It was a new site, places for campervans, but a notice to say the toilets and showers would be there in the autumn. Only a number to ring to stay there with a van.
We had to head off another 8 miles further. But although a really long day it was a good place to camp. Just off the dyke, basically a garden. Slightly old school facilities, but lashings of hot water, a little covered space with a picnic table and totally quiet. We liked it.
